Orphans and children ignored by parents used to take shelter under its watch and ward. It is worth mentioning that Birji’s wife Mrs. Chameli Devi extended all support to Birji to the best of her ablity. She used to take care of the lost/discarded children, kept in her custody till they were handed over to their parents/right persons and also gave motherly attention to those who were left lawaris orphans by their unweded mothers before shifting them to the orphanage started by Birji.

By and by there was a gradual increase in the number of such like children. In order to cope with the situation, Birji started an orphanage at Lahori Gate, Patiala in 1933 with a donation of Rs.10000/- from one, Shri Puran Chand Advocate. Now-a-days it is known as Yadvindra Puran Bal Niketan.

A number of inmates of this institution, who are female are regular students of various schools and institutions of professional/ technical education according to their capabilities. Many of them have been placed in good jobs of Govt/private institutions as per their capabilities.

Apart from the above, marriages of a good number of girls residing over there have been/ are celebrated from time to time in ceremonial ways with the contributions/donations of citizens from different walks of life.

Important personalities of the town come to the Bal Niketan to celebrate important festivals/ religious functions, their own birthdays etc. with them.

In Bal Niketan, there is a hall for indoor games, a Modern Kitchen, Refrigerator, Deep freezer, T.V and 15 computers provided for the girls to improve their knowledge and ability.The services of a doctor are also available for the regular check up children residing over there.

The Chairperson of this institution with the help of her colleagues is successfully taking care of meals, clothing and education of all the children of Bal Niketan.

Till now, marriages of more than hundred girls have been solemnised performed and girls are enjoying happily married life. Even after marriage, girls are given parental love and affection and they visit the Bal Niketan frequently off and ons. Presently, around 30 girls are living in the Bal Niketan. Moreso many children have been given in adoption to the needy couples/parent as per the guidlines of CARA’ a government agency.

Our founder President revered Kulwant Rai Gupta’s Grandson has Contributed Rs. 60 Lakhs to renovate the Istitution in the recent past besides . Rs. 65 Lakhs(approx) more have been spent for the purpose and the premises is now giving a festive look.
