S.D.K.S. Apahaj Ashram is situated on the main Rajpura Road adjoining to Aggarsain Hospital. It’s a home for disabled and destitute persons of the society. It was established by Sh. Birji Maharaj in the year 1940 in Lahori Gate. Then it was shifted to present premises on 26 th May, 1957. Foundation stone of Ward No. 2 was laid down by Rajmata Mahender Kaur ji of Patiala in the year 1959. The capacity of Apahaj Ashram is of 70 for the persons differently abled residents. There is Lord Shiva temple and two Satti Mandirs inside the premises where residing and staff members worship daily. On 28-5-1957 high dignitaries like Late Smt. Indira Gandhi, Sardarni Partap Singh Kairon W/o then Chief Minister of Punjab, Maharani Mahender Kaur ji, Ms. C.P. N. Singh,, Bibi Umtal Islam who was Director of Kastruba Mandir Rajpura, visited the Apahaj Ashram. Other dignitaries like Judges of Punjab & Haryana High Courts, Managing Directors and Senior officials from the then State Bank of Patiala and many other senior officials Govt. Departments visited the Apahaj Ashram from time to time. The affairs of Apahaj Ashram are being looked after by sub comittee headed by its Chairman.

At present there are more than 65 differently abled persons in Apahaj Ashram including 5 children, 13 ladies of different age group. The services given to all these persons in shape of medicines, food, clothing etc are appreciable in all respect. Ashram is running on the donations. The list of the major and regular donors is displayed on the front wall of the office. In the past respected Madhok Family of Patiala donated Rs.7 lacs as a help for the construction of Dinning/ Community Hall and Sh. Anand Verma of Delhi donated Rs. 3 lacs for the construction of Modern Kitchen with all amenities. So many revered persons have donated lacs of rupees to the Institution. There are many more regularly sening their donations for the cause.
